As a consequence of the NACO Conference we have seen a sharp increase in inquiries and also the number of new members joining up. I have also heard from Gibraltar that they have been hosting a number of recuperating service personnel and using their Heroes Welcome Scheme to enhance the experience, also reports in from soldiers returning from the Falkland Islands say how much they have appreciated seeing Heroes Welcome stickers across Port Stanley and beyond.
In the UK I can confirm that the following are working up Heroes Welcome schemes (the following is for members info only and not to be published in the press) , Aberdeen, East Hampshire, Havant, North Somerset, Wetherby and Woking. Also my thanks go to Peter Howell of the Dorchester St George's Day Luncheon Club for generously sponsoring, Heroes Welcome In London scheme tailored to Black Cab drivers. It was a great honour to be invited as a guest to NACO 2013. The Conference was opened by General Lord Dannatt and Heroes Welcome was given a good plug in what was an excellent key note speech. Later during the conference I was able to work with Mark Axler and the Military Covenant Work Shop Team.
As a result we have now published a short guide to Heroes Welcome (attached) which will appear in the NACO Community Covenant Too Kit. As always I would like to thank NACO members for their continued support to the scheme.

The Rock of Gibraltar has joined Heroes Welcome.
The Gibraltar Government, Mayor and Chief Minister put on a wonderful civic reception attended by over 100 plus including, Commander and Deputy Commander Forces Gibraltar, uniformed personal from all three Services and also representatives from the major Military charities, the Royal British Legion including Gibraltar and mainland Costa Branches.
Our thanks go to Suyenne Catania and her team who worked tirelessly to make the day the success that it was.
As we walked back across the border yesterday afternoon, there stood a rank of taxis already wearing their Heroes Welcome stickers with pride! Mind you after over 300 years of showing their warmth and support to members of the Armed Forces they are perhaps well practiced!
