Our really exiting news is that National Armed Forces Day 2015 is being held in Guildford and will be featuring their Heroes Welcome in Guildford scheme. Kate Foxton the Civic Officer was one of our founding members and Guildford have been running with Heroes Welcome since 2010 and we are very proud of this association. Coincidently, HRH The Duke of York will be the Royal guest of honour for the day and as he also happens to be the Regimental Colonel of Yorkshire Regiment, (one of the foundation Military Units to Heroes Welcome,) I have arranged for the Duke to be briefed by our Regimental Secretary Lt Colonel David O' Kelly. We are also grateful to Nick Thomas and HQ Theatres PLC (G Live Guildford ) who have sponsored the Heroes Welcome support material for the national event.
Here in sunny Scarborough we are also planning another exciting Armed Forces Day, with Vulcan Bombers, Spitfires, wing walkers and are expecting a crowd of around 25,000 on the day. We will also be operating our Heroes Welcome Service Families Hosting Area, offering free resort packs and complimentary ice creams for all service children visiting with us on the day.
So, wherever you are and whatever you are doing on the 27th June , we wish you a very successful Armed Forces Day 2015!
Finally, Heroes Welcome receives no government funding and it is entirely free to join, it does not have any strategic aims other than to provide you and your community with a simple vehicle to encourage tangible support to members of the Armed Forces, Past Present and Future and therefore thank you to you all for making this happen!
In the words of one Household Division RSM... "and very much appreciated it is too!"
